How to become an SAP Certified Consultant?

We’ve already talked in a previous post about the discussion of whether or not to become a Certified SAP Consultant and in this post, we’ll talk step by step on how to become a Certified Consultant.
First of all, I’ll say that it’s not a fast path, but for sure, you’ll get a good return.

Choose the Certification

One of the easiest ways to see which certifications are valid is by going to SAP’s own official certification site:

https://training.sap.com/certification/

You will see the following screen (2021 Version):

Click on the Link “View SAP Global Certifications”:

You will be presented with the complete list of available certifications.
Let’s say I’m interested in certification for the MM module:

By clicking on “View Details” we will be directed to the specific page of that certification:

We will be able to see the number of questions, what is the grade, the duration, and the languages available to take the test.
It’s important to note that we have 2 prices. The most expensive is related to the price of the SAP Learning Hub (with the right to 6 test vouchers) and the second price (cheaper) is to perform the test only once.
We can also see the price of certification, some comments, and also what are the topics that must be studied to pass the test.
When clicking on a topic, we have a piece of very important information:

For the topic “SAP S / 4 Hana Innovations in Sourcing and Procurement”, we can see the Training Code for that topic.
What is this Code for?
If you are a subscriber to the SAP Learning Hub Platform, you can use this Code to read material on that topic and to prepare for the exam.

How to Study?

There are basically two ways for you to prepare for certification:

  1. SAP Learning Hub

As we explained in this post about the SAP Learning Hub, you can purchase a subscription to it and have at your disposal all the official SAP courses to study.
The big advantage is that the contents will be ready for you to study and prepare, in addition to several simulated exams.
The disadvantage is the cost since the Platform is not cheap.

  2. Study by Yourself

This is the most economical way, but the most difficult.

You can use SAP books (Hint: www.sappress.com) to study or even consume as much internet content as possible.
You may have to take the exam more than once to pass, but even paying twice to take the exam is still cheaper than subscribing to the SAP Learning Hub.

My recommendation is that if you are financially able, subscribe to the SAP Learning Hub and prepare for more than one certification. Thus, you will get more out of the investment.

The Test

There are basically two ways to perform the test:

  • Online (Only on attempt)
  • Purchase Certification Hub (You can try 6 times with this product)
  • Presential (You can contact SAP directly and schedule)

When I completed my certifications, I decided to purchase the Certification Hub, as I found the best cost/benefit.
In fact, in the year 2021, I plan to carry out 3 more certification tests and for that, I will sign the product again, because, in addition to each test being cheaper, I can do the test in the comfort of my home at the time that is most interesting for me.
